Ward offices receive permits, corrections, service requests, and local notices. The Board coordinates the networks that cross ward boundaries: supply, transit, water, structural maintenance, and civic acoustics.
This division lets a resident raise a local need without requiring every crew to negotiate a citywide plan. It also gives the city one accountable route for work that affects more than one ward.
A public counter cannot promise every request. It can tell a resident where the request entered the record and which office holds the next decision.
